Only BC delegates to OECD Conference from Kootenays
Penfold & Stolte off to Quebec City for World Rural Development Forum
Nelson, BC - Mike Stolte and George Penfold are BC’s only delegates to the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) Conference on Rural Development. The conference, an invite-only affair, will bring delegates from all over the world to Quebec City from October 13-15th to discuss issues like the recession’s effects on rural regions, climate change, strategies to enhance local food industries, and cutting edge tourism schemes.
Stolte is the President of the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation (CRRF – www.crrf.ca ) and the Executive Director of the Centre for Innovative & Entrepreneurial Leadership (CIEL - www.theCIEL.com). Penfold is Selkirk College’s Rural Innovation Chair (RIC) and also on the Board of CRRF.
In addition, Stolte & Penfold will be involved in CRRF’s ‘From Rural Recession to Revitalization’ workshop immediately following the OECD conference. Stolte will co-chair the event featuring rural experts from Scotland, England, the US, Canada and Australia.
